Thai Silk

This wall-hanging was made with silks that I bought on our trip to Thailand. The blue represents the Andaman Sea; the red represents poppies; the gold is for the many golden temples; the orange is for the ubiquitous robes of the monks; the purple is for delicious purple sticky rice; and the yellow is for the curry used in many delicious dishes!

The stripes themselves represent both activity and orderliness; two qualities which are part of the Thai culture.

I love the visual appeal of this quilt, but I love the accompanying text even more. A piece should stand on its on, but it's always more interesting to hear some of the thinking behind its creation. The execution is flawless!
