Winnie and Friends

Got a request to make a Winnie the Pooh quilt for a cousin of Skyler (quilt in 2011!). Oooooohhhh.....that should be fun. There must be a lot of patterns to choose from for such a popular character.  So, I began to research and, surprisingly, there are hardly any patterns for this!

Luckily, one of my favorite places, Sew Fresh Quilts, had the cutest FREE pattern

All of the animals were made using fabrics from my stash. Because they have so many different colors, we needed a background that was different but still complementary. Couldn't find anything that worked, so we went to Quilter's Heaven and found the perfect match! Light blue, with multi-colored little splatters. I also used this for the binding.

We could have done that same fab on the back, but thought maybe there was some Winnie pattern out there. Then we found the perfect one at Stitchin Heaven (no relation to Quilter's Heaven) in Quitman, Texas (too bad it wasn't Quiltman!).

Quilting was done using free-motion on the background with a rainbow-variegated thread. I also did some minimal ditch quilting with clear monofilament thread around the animal noses and heads.

Hopefully, Elliot will cuddle up with these friends for many years to come.
